Standard Butterfly Damper B110

Standard Butterfly Damper B110

Forward Engineering & Manufacturing LLC butterfly dampers are engineered with state of the art design features to all applicable codes and standards including ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASTM and AISI:

  • Service Longevity – All butterfly dampers are carefully engineered and manufactured to highest quality standards to assure installed performance and longevity.
  • Blades – Blades are designed to operate at maximum process gas conditions with minimal deflection and combined stresses.  Blades feature thick flat plates with efficient stiffener designs to minimize static pressure loss and downstream leakage.   Effects of corrosion or erosion are minimized utilizing thicker plate.  Blades are welded to assure longevity in all environments.
  • Shafts – Butterfly damper shafts are engineered to be maintenance-free by limiting deflection and combined bending and shear stresses at maximum pressure, temperature and actuator output.  Standard butterfly dampers include welded stub shafts with full-length or removable stub shaft options.
  • Seats – Butterfly damper seats are engineered for performance and maximum longevity within process gas systems.  Swing-through, metal and high-cycle seats are maintenance-free’. Bulb seats are designed to withstand 2300 degrees F. and static pressures exceeding 5 psi.
  • Bearings – Bearings are selected based on application.  All bearings are positioned at least 6” from the frame (except pressure relief butterfly).  A standard ball bearing good to 250F is available for most low temperature industrial applications.  For high-cycle applications, a heavy-duty ball bearing with high temperature grease and seals is good to 400F.  A self-lubricating graphite sleeve bearing is available for all high temperature applications.
  • Packing Gland – The standard packing gland is a 2-bolt design having formed packing rings, the number of which depends on the maximum design pressure.  Leakage through the packing gland is zero (0) at any blade position at maximum design pressure.
  • Frames – All frames are carefully engineered and fabricated to ensure precise dimensional tolerances are maintained for each application.   Damper frames must provide a platform on which the damper reliably isolates and controls flow.
